Hand-Carved Mini Serving Boards

Azizi Life works with more than 760 artisans across about 60 cooperatives in rural Rwanda, each group specializing in traditional techniques passed down through generations.

Every piece is made by hand from local natural materials - sisal, forest grasses, banana leaf, and local wood - so small variations are part of the craft. Through fair-trade partnerships, the work provides steady income for artisan families and helps fund community programs like adult literacy.

Q: What are these boards made of?
A: Local pine, finished with food-safe beeswax. Each board is hand-carved, so grain and shape vary slightly from piece to piece.

Q: What sizes are available?
A: Three shapes - an 8-inch round, a 12-by-6-inch rectangle, and a 9-inch square - sized for individual portions, cheese and crackers, or a small appetizer spread.

Q: Can I cut on them?
A: They are made for serving rather than heavy chopping. Light slicing is fine, but heavy knife work will wear down the beeswax finish.

Q: How do I care for them?
A: Hand wash with mild soap and warm water, dry completely, and re-oil now and then with a food-safe wood oil. No dishwasher or bleach.
