Two figures, one piece of stone. This sculpture captures a couple in a tender embrace, hand-carved from a single piece of serpentine stone. The stone is shaped by hand, then chiseled, sanded, polished with beeswax, and finished over fire to bring out its natural color and depth.
Hand-carved by Shona artisans in Zimbabwe, who are known worldwide for their stone sculpture and quarry and select their own stone. Standing about 6.5 inches tall, each piece is one of a kind, and the smooth stone invites touch.
