Handwoven Baskets

    Filter

Three sizes of handwoven grass basket that nest one inside the next, plus a sculptural cane vessel from Zimbabwe.

The Iringa baskets are coiled by hand from wild milulu grass in the Njombe and Iringa regions of Tanzania, where the craft is worked by women artisans and passed between generations. Medium, large, and extra large stack together on a shelf or stand alone in a corner. The Buhera vessel is woven from cane dried in Zimbabwe's Buhera district, round through the belly and drawn in at the neck.

Every piece is made by hand, so no two match exactly. The Auburn Stripe is banded differently on every basket. Expect variation in tone, in pattern, and an inch either way on size.
